Putting it Together

Lance has prepared eight graphs for his poster presentation at the upcoming INBRE conference.

With the INBRE conference only a week and a half away, it’s definitely crunch time. I have been spending tons of time analyzing the data I have been collecting. This has been quite difficult because of how monotonous the process can be. You have to do the same procedure over and over again for hours on end, leaving you with a slight headache and feeling wiped out. When you finally get through all this however, you can make a beautiful graph that makes it all worth it. Seeing all of your processed data and being able to start to draw conclusions from it is a very exciting experience. It gives meaning to the weeks and months spent in the lab learning techniques and developing your skills.

For the coming week, I will continue to work on finishing data analysis. Once I’m done with this, I will start going over the graphs and making sure I know what each one of them mean. When all is said and done, I will have roughly eight graphs, each with a different story to tell. Knowing what each one tells me about the channel and the mutations effect on it can get quite confusing at times. I will also make sure I have a rock-solid understanding of the protocols we use, and how they give us the information needed.
